Monday, January 10 2011 13:54
As of January 1, 2011 a CR Number (10-digit Customs Registration Number) will be required for Express Delivery shipments into China (i.e., DHL, UPS, FedEX).  A CR Number is not required for goods/equipment/products shipping. This regulation has been in a trial period since July 2010.  The importer in China, who must be registered with the Chinese Agency of Industry and Commerce,  will need to obtain a CR Number from China Customs.  Another option for the Chinese importer is to use an Import-Export Agent to handle the shipment on their behalf.   The CR Number is reportedly very easy to get from China Customs for a low cost about RMB 50 (under $10). Your Chinese buyer/importer can find the procedures on the China Customs Website at http://www.customs.gov.cn/publish/portal0
